Lift questions

Ok, me and a buddy of mine are fixin to start building lifts for our ranchers. I just have a few questions before we get started. Do most of yall just cut and extend the swing arms? Or can just just buy the ends and start from there? For some reason i thought i saw someone buy new ends, could be wrong though. We are looking at about 6" of lift total... so what degree would the rear axle need to stay at to have a good working angle?

Thats all the questions i got right now, may have some more once we get to working on the lifts. Will post pics to as we get them
