can you just put a cage in the outboard cx axle or do I have to get a half shaft

I have heard of a place in Pennsylvania ( I think ) called Mazur's ATV that sells just the outer joint, you cut the old one off which is held in by a clip on the end of the shaft and just pop the shaft into the new CV.
