trying to find a way to build a air box fo rmy rancher out of aluminum that will still be functional as far as cleaning filter or is it better to pipe snorkel directly to the cab and filter at end of snorkel?
I would build a custom aluminum box over putting a filter at the end of my snorkel. I haven't messed with running just pipe to the carb but i would think it would take some playing to make sure you have enough air coming. I had thought about a aluminum air box and making the snorkel out of thin wall aluminum but it wasn't cost efficient so i scrapped the idea. It would look badass though.
i have the metal to do it with just wasnt sure how or what the best way to pipe it in to the carb. was considering using the prge canister off of an old ford truck and seeing how that would work.
go for it man. as far as piping to the carb using the air box all you need is a rubber fitting with clamps. the thing is was worried about was making a lid that would seal up real good but i'm sure once you get it build it will be easier to figure something out.
just build the box and put your filter at the end of the snorkle
