tie rods are a bitch... I use a 1/2' right hand thread male hiem joint, then take a 1/2"x20 lugnut(mag wheel style) and weld it in to my 3/4" pipe(makes a socket) i get them at summit racing.
you just need to bend the pipe so that the hiem joint lays almost flat to keep it from getting into a bind.
you will also need a 1/2"x 3/8" bushing to go through the hiem(lowes) and some 3/8"x2.5" grade eight bolts with lock washers and lock nuts.(also at lowes)
now what i do is take eight plain 1/2" lugs nuts and drill out the centers so the 1/2" x 3/8" bushing will fit through. Then i put one on each side of the hiem so that it will pivot with out hitting the steering parts. kinda like a missalignment shim. you may have to trim the bushing so that it fits flush with the nut/hiem combo.
Thanks. But were did u find the hiem joints?I'm thinkin about relocating the steering.drop it down under the front drive shaft but not sure yet.not sure only got 3 months till Marshall.I better get busy
